Tour de Bloc Part One | Joe Rockhead’s – Where it all Started

Joe Rochead’s has been the epicentre of Toronto’s climbing scene for decades and has played an important role of the growth of the Tour de Bloc.

In 1990, there were few resources for climbers in Toronto. Southern Ontario rock is top-notch, but far from downtown.

When the C.N. Tower had its 25th birthday, a few climbers scaled the tower’s elevator shaft, “any port in a storm.”

Nowadays, there are over 30 indoor walls throughout the Toronto area, and countless other “home gyms.” But, it all started with Rockhead’s.

Here is part one of a four-part series featuring events and personalities from the Tour de Bloc final at Joe Rockhead’s.
