Watch Beta for La Traverse de L’Orque V6 at Val-David

The lip traverse is one of many great problems on the Elizabeth Boulder

Get the beta for La Traverse de L’Orque V6 from Liz Haas as she climbs the classic Val-David problem. “I’d like to nickname it ‘Tickling the Belly of the Whale,” she said, “since it climbs the top (skipping the crux) of Slapping the Belly of the Whale V10.”

The problem starts on the right side of the sloping lip and traverses left to the top out. One way to climb it is to only use the lip to the jub and mantle. The other is to use some crimps above the lip and a heel hook.

Other problems on the Elizabeth Boulder include Pohp-Tart V5, Brutus V7 and La roulade dans l’orque V9. There are dozens of quality problems at Val-David, browse a few here. Follow Haas below on Instagram.
