Watch Film on Annapurna III New Route Attempt

Watch this short film called Annapurna III Unclimbed that gives insight into the five-week 2016 attempt of the mountain by David Lama, Hansjorg Auer and Alex Blumel.

The three strong climbers attempted to climb the unclimbed southeast ridge of Annapurna III, a 7,555-metre peak in the Nepalese Himalayas.

In 1981, Nick Colton and Tim Leach made the first attempt in alpine style and made it to withing 1,000 metres of the summit.

The 2016 attempt reached 6,550 metres, but after three sleeps on the ridge turned around.

The first ascent was in 1961 by an Indian expedition led by Capt. Mohan Singh Kohli via the northeast face. The climbers involved were Mohan Kohli, Sonam Gyatso and Sonam Girmi.
