Watch Massive Rockfall Off Popular Chamonix Alpine Route

Arête des Cosmiques is one of the most-climbed routes in the range

A huge rockfall took place on or near the popular and famous Arête des Cosmiques on Monday. The destructive event was witnessed by many on the south face of the Aiguille du Midi.

Nobody was injured, but as you can see in the video by Nick Lozica, who was descending a nearby climb, the rockfall forever changed the mountain. The area is currently in the middle of a heatwave.
