Watch How Poles are Used for Climbing in Vietnam and Canary Islands

In the first short film, the technique called salto del pastor is introduced to us as a traditional way of walking the mountains in Canary Islands. ”

The main character of this video, Gregorio, is a shepherd who demonstrates the original technique. “We also have met local enthusiasts of Salto del Pastor who are continuing the tradition with a bit different approach,” noted the filmmaker Robert Migas.

In this second short film, watch Vietnamese special forces perform a tactical training exercise in which they use a long pole or a log from the surrounding area in order to elevate other members of the team to the upper levels of a building.

Think of all of the blank spots at the start of hard routes that can now be quickly pole climbed to reach easier climbing.
