Watch a Send of Liquid Sky 5.11 in Alberta

James Blackhall has been establishing new routes in the Canadian Rockies for the past few years.

In this video, he sends the popular Liquid Dky 5.11+ at Back of the Lake at Lake Louise in Alberta.

The steep and pumpy 20-metre sport route was first climbed in 1985 by Colin Zacharias and friends.

Liquid Sky is found on the Liquid Sky Wall. Recommended to stick clip the first bolt.

It climbs up through rounded horizontals through some long reaches that lead back left across great stone to the chains.

Blackhall said after his send in 2017, “This is my proudest 5.11 send to date and felt harder then any 5.11c/d I’ve done so far.

“I fell a bunch on that last crux, changed the beta and viola. Added a brand new shiny anchor, lower off and also a perma-draw to back clean.”
