Luo Deng Ping is Spiderwoman Who Free Solos for Herbs

Luo Dengping goes by another name: China’s spiderwoman. She has earned the moniker by free-soloing cliffs above the Getu River in Guizhou province. She doesn’t use ropes or harnesses, a centuries-old traditional practice of the Miao minority group. The climbing also looks pretty technical in this video!

Climbers use these skills to collect swallow dung for fertilizer and herbs to sell as medicine. Luo Deng Ping is the first woman to take on a tradition originally only passed down to men.
