Spring Climbing Hardware Essentials for Your Rack

From belay devices to cams, here's everything you'll need to freshen up your kit this season

With the arrival of warmer weather, we’ll finally get back on the rock. It’s essential to ensure we’re equipped with the best hardware for upcoming adventures. It’s time to evaluate our gear, replacing any worn-out or damaged stuff or finding gaps in our rack. With ambitious projects on the horizon, buying new gear in spring allows you to familiarize yourself with it and have the advantage of having it on your rack for the whole season.

Time-tested stoppers with a transverse taper that allows you to place them securely in bottlenecks, flares, and shallow seams. The tapered shape extends versatility and adds multiple placement options. In addition, the classic shape (convex on one side, concave on the other) allows the unit to cam into position when loaded.

Get bomber placements with these wired hexes.

Hexentrics create a camming action in parallel sided cracks, and are way lighter than a big rack of cams. You do have to find the right spot to seat them, but the tapered sides allow a great range of placement options.
