Silver Mountain Avalanche, Third Victim Found with Recco

A few days ago, an inbound avalanche caught a number of skiers off guard at the Idaho ski resort. Two victims were found shortly after and a third was found a few days later.

Recco detectors are becoming more popular as more brands are integrating the Recco reflector (a small piece of metal) into clothing and gear. It has helped search and rescue technicians locate a number of mountain accident victims.

Due to their costs, there are only two Recco detectors in Canada, but more will be coming. Learn more about Recco here.

The Silver Mountain family extends our support and prayers to everyone affected by recent events here. We are beyond grateful to the ski patrollers, first responders, and volunteers who jumped into action without hesitation. The love and support shown by the Silver Valley, Inland Northwest, and the ski community as a whole has been truly humbling.
