Zamberlan’s Classic Hiking Boot: the Vioz Lux GTX RR Reviewed

This is one of the best hiking boots on the market for 2022

Italian bootmakers Zamberlan have been around since 1929, and the Vioz Lux GTX RR boots reflect this heritage. The waxed Tuscan full-grain leather uppers give them a classic appearance and also ensure that your boots will last a very long time. Calf-skin collar-lining adds to the feeling of a classic hiking boot.

Zamberlan, however, has also used their considerable design and materials experience to make this classic a high-performance modern boot. The breathable Gore-Tex membrane will keep your feet dry. The Zamberlan Vibram 3d outsole’s lugs are big and well-spaced for extra traction on wet terrain. The polyurethane midsole protects your feet from rocks and anything else you might step on.

These are solid, durable boots, and forward flex isn’t their strongest attribute,  but a pronounced rocker makes up for that. Lace hooks in the ankle area can suffer from being too shallow and not keeping the laces in place when you flex your foot. Zamberlan’s hardware, however, kept  solid grip on the laces. These are serious boots highly recommended for the committed hiker looking for something to keep them comfortable and protected on rugged backcountry trails.
