Shauna Coxsey Sends a Jerry Moffatt V13

She's undoubtedly having the best outdoor bouldering year of her life

British climber Shauna Coxsey recently repeated Superman V13 (8B) at Crag X in the Peak District, U.K. Established by Jerry Moffatt way back in 1989, the fingery line surmounts a steep limestone bulge before a drop-off finish. “A Peak classic I was almost sure I’d never do,” said Coxsey on Instagram. “A true finger strength test piece for sure. Proud of this one!”

Coxsey, 31, has been on a tear in 2024. In late February, she made the first ascent of Fotofobia Sit V14 in La Pedriza, Spain, her second of the grade. She also sent Pin y Pon V13 and Wild Wild West V13 while on her Spanish trip. In April, she repeated Fat Lip V13 at Raven Tor and became the first woman to send V14 on British soil with her ascent of Ned Feehally’s The Boss.

In early June, she repeated Hazel Grace V14 in Gotthard Pass, Switzerland. The line was established by Giuliano Cameroni in August 2017 at a grade of V15, which settled at V14 with subsequent ascents. The aesthetic, five-star boulder trends leftward across a seam to an arete topout in a beautiful alpine setting.

Coxsey’s first-ever V14 was the ultra-classic New Base Line in Magic Wood, which she sent in 2014. In 2024 alone she’s sent three V14s and at least four V13s. And we’re only halfway through the year!
