Ha Ling Peak in Rockies Closed for Winter 2018/19

Ha Ling Peak trail

The Canadian Rockies’ Ha Ling Peak hiking trail and climbing routes will be closed for winter 2018/19.

Alberta Parks announced the continued closure of the peak this week with the following statement.

“Please be advised that due to the early season of large, deep accumulations of snow, conditions are no longer safe for construction work to continue at Ha Ling. As a result of the construction work not being complete, several hazards exist throughout the trail.

“Due to the lack of hazard visibility and way finding issues, Ha Ling Peak will remain closed over the winter of 2018/2019 to ensure the safety of Alberta Parks users.

“Alberta Parks will not permit access to hiking and climbing routes on Ha Ling Peak during the area closure. Alberta Parks users are asked to respect the closure notices for their own safety.”

The Ha Ling Peak trail is used by skiers all winter to acces the Miner’s Gully and mixed routes on the north face of Lawrence Grassi Peak.

Skiers and climbers will need to use alternative approaches to reach their objectives this winter.
