Rockies Author to Discuss Western Canada Glaciers

Lynn Martell will discuss the history and events of Canada's glaciers

Join mountain writer/photographer Lynn Martel for some wild adventures on – and even deep inside – the cold, remote, dangerous, beautiful and always exciting glaciers of Alberta and British Columbia.

From the Canadian Rockies’ first crevasse rescue in 1897 – with a hemp rope – to the 21-day first ever Great Divide ski traverse linking glaciers from Jasper to Lake Louise, to the monster Coast Mountain Traverse which took five months of skiing across icefields from Vancouver to Skagway, Canadians have been embarking on epic glacier adventures for more than a century.

The event is being hosted by The Bow Valley Mountain Club and will take place at the Canmore Brewing Company on Jan. 23. It’s a free event and there’s beer. For more information visit the event page here.
