Climber Sends His First V16 with F the System

Watch as Pietro Vidi climbs the horizontal problem first climbed by Shawn Raboutou

Italian climber Pietro Vidi, 21, has climbed his first V16 with a repeat of F the System in Fionnay, Switzerland. Over the past year, Vidi has climbed some of the world’s most classic V15 boulders.

This climb is a sit start to Dave Graham’s Foundation’s Edge V15, which had been a longtime project until Shawn Raboutou made the first ascent in 2021. The following year, Graham and Clément Lechaptois made repeats.

After his second ascent Graham said, “With a classic ‘training attempt’ I launched into the climb without thinking, found a flow I’d never felt, stuck my release almost accidentally, then carried on move by move with a deep pump, didn’t drop the final traverse section, and summited, completely astonished.”

Some of Vidi’s other hard sends include Dreamtime V15, Roadkill V15, 4-Low V15 and Captain Nemo V15.
