Malli Mastan Babu Found Dead in South America

Famous Indian climber, Malli Mastan Babu, has been found dead in the Andes Mountains in South America. 

Babu was a 40-year-old mountaineer who lived in Nellore in Andhra Pradesh. He was on an expedition to South America to climb the 6,629-metre Cerro Tres Cruces Sur.

He and his friends had started their ascent from the Argentinean side toward the summit the Chilean summit. Babu and his team were at the basecamp on March 24 when he set off alone to scope the route up. The weather deteriorated and he went missing. An international effort to find Babu ended when his body was found.

Babu once held the record for climbing the Seven Summits in 172 days.
