Nalle Hukkataival Sends Historic Fontainebleau Route

Nalle Hukkataival is one of the world’s strongest climbers, if not the strongest. His determination to make the second ascent of a bouldering problem in Fontainebleau has been rewarded with a second ascent.

The problem was fist climbed in 1997 by Marc Le Menestrel. Some time after the first ascent, someone hammered the crux holds off the boulder, leaving a much harder version. Until now, now one could climb it.

Hukkataival wrote on his Facebook Page: The Alchemiste! Finally! It’s been a real battle with this one, so stoked to finally have finished it. Yesterday was one of those special days. One of Fontainebleau’s best known projects for 18 years. First opened by Marc Le Menestel in 1997 in it’s original state and never repeated until crux holds got mysteriously hammered off. A lot of story behind this piece of rock and what a great line it is.

The original grade was V12/13, but it’s anyone’s guess what the new grade will be.
