In a bold move, the UIAA is considering banning all plastic nuts (chocks) from future standards-testing.

In a bold move, the UIAA is considering banning all plastic nuts (chocks) from future standards-testing. During this year, the UIAA will test whether “the performance of plastic chocks is detrimentally affected by temperature extremes” encountered while climbing and depending on the results, may limit future testing to metal nuts. This begs the question: Who’s actually building plastic nuts?
