Climbers Survive Big Avalanche on Latok I in June

A team of South Koreans were on the north face of Latok I this week when a big avalanche took them down the face.

The climbers, including expedition leader Eun Soo Koo, fell a few hundred metres with a large slide down the slope of the 7,145-metre mountain in the Karakorum.

Two of the climbers sustained serious injuries to their back, ribs and shoulders.

The helicopter couldn’t reach the climbers for a full day due to bad conditions. Eventually, the climbers were airlifted to Skardu.
