The Bouldering in Jordan Looks Amazing

On a recent trip, Jake Tiger documented some of the stunning lines the country has to offer

While most climbers are have heard of Jordan’s picturesque route climbing in the famous Wadi Rum, few are aware that the country also contains some incredible bouldering. Squamish local Jake Tiger recently took a bouldering trip to Jordan where he met up with two local climbers and developers, Fasil al-Rifai and Faisal al-Tajer, who showed him some of the country’s best established lines and unclimbed blocs.

Tiger, a climber and climbing coach with Power Spot Coaching, put together a film of his time in Jordan. The 31-minute video features send footage of over 55 problems from V0 to V11 in the Wadi Rum and Dead Sea bouldering areas, with over 20 of these problems being Tiger first ascents.

“Jordan has high potential to be a world-renowned bouldering destination,” said Tiger. “It just needs a bit more attention.”

For more excellent Jordan bouldering content, check out the Instagram profiles of al-Rifai and al-Tajer. A Jordan bouldering guidebook is currently in the works with already around 700 problems documented.

“Jordan has a lot of potential for bouldering,” said al-Rifai. “It’s pretty cool how in some areas you can boulder on three different types of rock. There’s a lot of rock throughout the country, you just need patience and exploration. Who wouldn’t want to climb in the Valley of the Moon?”
