British Free Attempt on Cerro Torre Southeast Ridge
Team heads to Patagonia to attempt the Southeast Ridge of Cerro Torre.
Two years ago, Cerro Torre had the world’s attention when two climbing teams made important ascents of separate routes. Jason Kruk and Hayden Kennedy climbed a new route on Cerro Torre’s Southeast Ridge, on their descent they chopped bolts on the historic Compressor Route. Soon after, David Lama climbed the Southeast Ridge, doing the first free ascent of the line, despite the chopping of the historical hardware.
In January, 2014, British climbers Dave MacLeod, Ally Swinton, Calum Muskett and photographer Ben Winston will be attempting to free climb the Southeast Ridge.
We will continue to update the story as details become available.
