Bloc Shop’s Fred Charron Sets for Dock Masters, Watch Livestream

Fred Charron from Montreal’s Bloc Shop is currently in Utrecht, Netherlands, setting boulders for a world-class, two-day competition happening this weekend at Boulderhal Energiehaven.

Charron is stoked to be setting in Europe: “For me it’s…about meeting different people and seeing their approach to setting. Getting outside my little Canadian bubble.” Charron will be setting alongside Romain Cabessut and Manuel Wiegel.

The roster is stacked with 64 pro-level climbers. Canada’s Sean McColl was on the starting list, but couldn’t make the trip. Others who are competing include Guillaume Glairon-Mondet (FR), Mickael Mawem (FR) and more. For the women, the lineup includes World Cup circuit regulars, Juliane Wurm (GER), Melanie Sandoz (FR) and local Dutch crusher, Vera Zijlstra.

The pros will battle it out for a €7,000 cash purse. With 360 people signed up for the recreational comp plus 200+ people coming to watch finals, the audience is going to be huge at the final round.

Don’t miss the livestream of Finals on Sunday Feb 10, 2019, at 7:00 p.m. local time (10 a.m. PST, 1 p.m. EST), co-commentated by the one and only Eddy Fowke @thecircuitclimbing with a guest athlete and/or setter.
