The CEC Releases Competition Schedule for Next Two Years

A date is set for Canada's inaugural Para-Climbing National Championships and the CEC releases a competition schedule for 2022-2024

Canada's Erica Velev Speed Climbing in Europe

Last week brought major developments to Canadian competition climbing. Climbing Escalade Canada announce the date and location of the inaugural Para-Climbing National Championships along with a two-year schedule for upcoming national events.

Para-Climbing

The Canadian Para-Climbing Team will compete in their first National Championships.

Climb Base 5 agreed to host the event, continuing their history of supporting the development of Canadian competition climbing. Many of Canada’s best climbers, including both Sean McColl and Alannah Yip, came up through Climb Base 5 to become the Olympians they are today.

The Para-Climbing National Championships will run December 10-11, 2022. The classification process will begin on December 8 and run through the 9. According to their press release, the event is open to all participants with disabilities regardless of their climbing level. Participants must be at least 16-years-old at December 31, 2023 and mist identify within one of the Para-Climbing Sport Classes.

Participants outside of Canada are allowed and encouraged to compete in this inaugural event. Canadian participants must purchase the 2022-2023 Para-Climbing Athlete and Support License.
