Throwback to 2011 Canmore IFSC Bouldering World Cup

It was the first IFSC Boulder World Cup in Canada!

In 2011, Canmore hosted an IFSC Bouldering World Cup. It snowed, rained and the climbers worked harder to stay warm than to climb. Japanese climbers Tsukuru Hori and Akiyo Noguchi conquered the gold medals in the male and female categories, respectively with two and four problems completed in the finals.

In the men’s category, the Slovenian Klemen Becan continued his lucky series with the second place, while one boulder topped meant the third place for the home athlete Sean McColl. The Austrian Anna Soöhr ranked second behind Noguchi, both topped all four boulders but Stohr took one more attempt. Jain Kim took bronze with three tops.

Canmore was a unique event with 75 mm of snow the night before the qualifications round. Climbers warmed up at Vision climbing gym.
