Lost in the Shower is a Steep American 5.14

See the moves of the hardest route at Mount Lemmon in Arizona

Lost in the Shower is a 5.14 sport climb at Mount Lemon in Arizona that was opened by Adrian Montaño, Jack Hereford, Chris Grayson and Mark Mellott in 2022. JimBo Flims has just released a short film featuring Montaño climbing the stunning line, which you can watch below.

“Not the usual format of video, but it is the only footage of Mount Lemmon’s hardest route to date Lost in the Shower 5.14-,” notes JimBo. “Excuse the audio-less drone footage but enjoy long cuts of rock climbing during one of the days on the route. Thanks Mark for being willing to help capture some of this.”

About the process, Montaño said, “This arbitrary route, much like others, could not have been finished without help from good friends who I owe great experiences to. Whether you threw yourself at it with me from the beginning, helped figure out the most efficient beta, belayed and shared one of the many wet and cold hikes out, or just hiked out there once to tell me how hard the boulder problem was, you know who you are and I appreciate you.”

The description of the crux reads, “The main crux involves an iron cross, a blind reach to a slanted side pull above your head, and very difficult footwork to gain a pair of ‘twin crimps’ in the middle of the hardest climbing, at the only place to pause & clip. Tenuous footwork off of teeth-like holds guards the next bolt, and a few more long pulls to get to a jug.”
