Michaela Kiersch Sends V13 in a Single Session

Not long after sending two 5.14d's in Spain, Kiersch tops After Hours V13 in Huntington Canyon, Utah

Yesterday, American climber Michaela Kiersch sent After Hours V13 (8B) in Huntington Canyon, Utah after just a couple hours of work. After Hours was established by Kyram Adsit and has since seen a few repeats including from Allison Vest and Melina Costanza.

“Managed to put it down in a couple of hours!” said Kiersch about her send on Instagram. “This one suited me — heel hooks, 6mm crimps, fun toe hook to finish. Def on the softer side (especially considering [Kyram Adsit’s] FA beta is a lot harder/bigger). But I’m psyched to see my fingers and biceps still work hard after a month or two of sport climbing!”

Kiersch has had quite the year of bouldering. On a trip to Ticino, Switzerland early in the year, she sent at least 10 problems V10 and above in under two weeks, including Frank’s Wild Year V12 and Forever More V12. On a trip to Magic Wood later in the spring, she sent a flurry of double-digit problems including Wovenhand V13, Jack’s Broken Heart V12, Sofa Surfer V12, and Bizarre Ride V12, among others.

Her sport climbing accomplishments in 2023 are arguably even more impressive. In January, she made the third female ascent of La Rambla 5.15a in Siurana. On another trip to Spain this fall she sent the famous Era Vella 5.14d as well as Victimes del Futur 5.14d and Coma Sant Pere 5.14c.
