Americans Ski Grand Teton’s North Face

It's only the second time the huge famous face has been skied

Earlier this spring, American big mountain skiers Adam Fabrikant and Sam Henneyssey made the first ski descent of the north face of the Grand Teton, an iconic peak in Wyoming.

The first ski descent of the north face was in 2013 by Grand Teton guides Greg Collins and Brendan O’Neill. “We both had individually climbed and guided the Direct North Face several times, and I had climbed it in winter and did a new route, The Golden Pillar,” Collins said. “We realized there was potential for good skiing on it.”

The American Alpine Journal noted that Hennessey said the ski route was far from contrived: “Honestly, the north face has some amazing skiing in an outrageous position. We thought it was an excellent day of skiing.” The descent included some rappelling.

Fabrikant was at it again after the Grand Teton by teaming up with O’Neill and Michael Gardner for the Enduro Traverse, which is a ski ascent/descent of the Teton skyline from Buck Mountain to Teewinot.
