New 2017 Petzl Sirocco Helmet is Light and Strong

Petzl has updated its popular Sirocco helmet for fall 2017. The Sirocco’s popularity is due to its strength, lightweight design and because it was only available in bright orange.

You can always tell when a Sirocco is on a climber’s head because of its popping colour. The news of the new Sirocco was announced at the 2017 winter Outdoor Retailer and it looks like their will be new colours available.

The new Sirocco uses two kinds of foam for increased coverage to the back and sides. It is lighter than the previous model for the two sizes and will be just as tough, if not tougher, than the current Sirocco. You can strap a headlamp or even ski goggles to the clips and elastic strap.

“I absolutely love this helmet,” said leading alpine climber Colin Haley about the current Sirocco. “It is comfortable, accepts a headlamp, and in a size one, which I can wear with a fleece balaclava if my hair isn’t in hippie-mode. And it’s only 145 grams—literally half the weight of my previous helmet.”

It seems new model will be available in white and for a price reference, the current orange Sirocco is $159. We can’t wait to get it out on the rock. For more information on the current model see here and watch the short clip below.
