10 Photos from Grotto Mountain, from Sport to Dry Tool

Between Cougar Creek and Grotto Canyon, Grotto Mountain rises to 2,706 metres. The big mountain has dozens of crags and hundreds of routes, including long 5.5 alpine routes, big alpine mixed faces, 5.14 sport climbs and M10 mixed routes. The following photos are from the past few months.

About 3-4 months ago I invited my friend @alexandermegos to come to Canada for a sampler of our local crags and Rocky Mountains. I was both delighted and surprised that he was interested given the places he's been and the places he hasn't yet. But the stoke is high and conditions are good. Today (his second day in the country) he put his mutant finger strength to good use on another 5.14c/d project here in Canmore! After a few burns Planet-X saw its last remaining bolted project fall, and with it is the crags second 5.14+ (alongside The Prestige) Alex is in town for a few weeks, but I'd say this was a pretty decent start. @patagonia_climb

Well the first snow fall is here. Rock season is coming to a close soon which in the past I would be bummed about but this year I have opening @bolderclimbing to look forward to. Projecting hard routes at my limit has been my core climbing philosophy for almost a decade. I've had a blast putting pieces of this route together so far. Today was likely my last good day on it this season as next week I plan to begin 2 weeks of R&R followed by 5 weeks of training to get ready for a month in Santa Linya.
