Canadian Amanda Berezowski Sends Her First 5.14a
West coaster Amanda Berezowski has sent her first 5.14a, Dinosaur Highway at Horne Lake. Berezowksi is the seventh Canadian woman on record to climb 5.14. A long-time comp climber, Berezowski began climbing at 16 in Calgary and now lives on Vancouver Island.
She sent her first 5.13 this spring with a tick of Globetrotters 5.13c at Horne. She went on to send a number of 5.13s at Horne Lake including: Young Blood 5.13a, Jesus Save the Pushers 5.13a, Ahead by a Century 5.13b, Fast Cat 5.13c and Moment of Silence 5.13c.
The first Canadian woman to send 5.14 was Ellen Powick on Pipedream at Maple Canyon, then Josie Hetyie from Vancouver, then Vikki Weldon sent Eulogy at Maple, Leslie Timms sent Magnum Opus in Lime Kiln Canyon, Marieta Akalski sent Geminis at Rodellar, Spain, and Emilie Pellerin sent Tom et je Ris. Weldon and Hetyie had sent Dinosaur Highway over the past few years. Marcel Arden recently sent Dinosaur Highway for his first 5.14.
