Julia Bobak Sends First 5.13b

West Coast climber Julia Bobak has send her first 5.13b after clipping the chains on Ahead by a Century at Horne Lake. After her send, she wrote on Sendage.com, “Kind of a unique style for Horne. Deemed this too finger injury-ing last fall, so pleased with how quickly it went down this spring. Great start to the season!”

Bobak had two previous 5.13 sends at Horne Lake including Devil’s Note and Feed Your Monkey. Earlier this spring, she sent Dr. Seuss’ Wild Ride 5.13a at Skaha. Below is a photo of Bobak on The Spell 5.12a in Skaha.

In a 1999 article, Andrew Boyd listed Ahead by a Century as one of Horne’s top 10 routes. The other nine routes are She Stoke the Chert Off My Back 5.10b, Born to Run 5.11a, The Body 5.10b, The Waterspout 5.11c, Llama Lover 5.11c, Bobby Lust 5.11d, Moonraker 5.12b, Code of Honour 5.12b/c, Save the Pusher 5.13a.
