Canadian Kaska Kowalska Sends Water Hazard V10
Canadians Kaska Kowalska and her partner Keith were recently in Bishop and sent a number of hard problems.
Kaska’s send of Water Hazard V10, which is a Sean McColl route from 2008, is her hardest to date. “I first sent Water Hazard Right V8 and then spent another session working the left start before I sent it on the following day,” said Kaska.
“The left start adds two powerful moves on pretty bad crimps before finishing off on the right start. I guess you can say crimpy moves are my style now. I couldn’t boulder while I was pregnant so I spent a lot of time on my hangboard just hanging on my fingertips.”
Previous to Bishop, her and Keith were in Hueco. “Keith had a great time in Hueco, he sent 11 problems that were V10 or above including Power of Silence V10, Diaphanous Sea V11 and Barefoot on Sacred Ground V12,” said Kaska.
“I had a good time getting back into outdoor shape there and the highlights for me include Fern Roof V9 and Babyface V7. Hueco got too hot so we headed out to Bishop after a quick stop in Vegas.”
Kaska said she it was unseasonably warm in Bishop during their visit, so they hid from the sun in caves or as the Sads, where Water Hazard is. She also sent Croft Problem V8, Gleaming the Cube V8 and Seven Spanish Angels V6 at the Buttermilks.
“We took a week off after Bishop and now we’re in Joe’s Valley for another week before we head home to celebrate Ethan’s first birthday.”
