Patxi Usobiaga Sends Papichulo 5.15a in Spain

Patxi Usobiaga is no stranger to 5.15 sends, as his first was in 2004 with the third ascent of Realization in Ceuse. A few years after that, he repeated La Rambla at Siurana.

Now, 10 years later, he has sent his third 5.15a with a tick of Chris Sharma’s Papichulo in Oliana.

Usobiaga was in a bad car accident in 2011 and has been recovering from serious back injuries.

The 36-year-old Spanish climber was one of the world’s top competition climbers and made history with the first ever 5.14c onsight of Bizi Euskaraz in Etxauri on the route’s first ascent.
