Ontario Climber Bags Everest and Lhoste in 24 Hours

Reaching the summit of Everest and starting the clock to reach the summit of Lhotse in under 24 hours has become more popular over the past decade.

The “high double” or “fast double” as some have called it connects the fourth highest and highest peaks on the planet and this spring a number of climbers accomplished the achievement.

Jay Patry from Ontario might have become the first Canadian to do so this spring after a number of other climbers, including Steve Plain from Australia, Jon Gupta from Britain, Tendi Serpa, Americans Mat Wood and Matt Moniz and Argentinian Willie Benegas.

Patry used supplemental oxygen and made the climbs with guide Ben Jones of Alpine Ascents.

Patry has also climbed Elbrus in Russia, Vinson in Antarctica and Denali in Alaska, all peaks on the seven summits list.
