Pete Dawson Repeats Rainshadow 5.14d in U.K.

Malham Cove in the U.K.

Pete Dawson has climbed Rainshadow 5.14d at the steep Malham Cove in the U.K. and was the country’s hardest climb until Adam Ondra added Overshadow 5.15a.

The technical route is an extension to Raindogs 5.13 and was first climbed by Steve McClure and repeated by Will Bosi and Ryan Pasquill.

Dawson started working on the endurance route in April, noting that the style suited him.

Dawson worked on the climb for just over a week, mostly focusing on the crux boulder problem in the roof.

He told UKclimbing.com, “I found this crux really tough and I had to train specifically on campus and 50 degree boards to gain power.

“It felt amazing to climb Rainshadow because I had to find the ‘flow’ and when you climb a line so perfectly it’s super satisfying!”

Dawson is now off to try hard and classic lines at Frankenjura in Germany.
