New Route Up Big Face on Gasherbrum II

Gasherbrum II routes

Adam Bielecki and Felix Berg have climbed a new route up Gasherbrum II in the Karakoram up the west face.

Two team members, Jacek Czech and Borys Dedeszko descended from over 7,000 metres when fatigue set in.

One of the first routes up the face was in 1975 by Onyszkiewicz and Zdzitowiecki who climbed more on the northwest face.

Belicki said after, “On July 16, together with Felix Berg we accomplished a traverse of Gasherbrum II summit.

“First we climbed the west face (propably second ascent) and then descended via normal route.

“We are very happy, the only drawback is that our friends Jacek Czech and Borys Dedeszko turned back without reaching the top.”
