Climbing Gear Does Not Last Forever

In the article, Powick points out that as gear becomes lighter and more specialized, it is often is less burly than older heavier equipment. Powick also draws attention to the fact that many climbers are now using their gear more aggressively; taking repeated falls and torquing tools in ways previous climber never imagined.
