Canuck Comps Week 2: B.C., Alberta, Ontario and Quebec

A weekly review of the bouldering, lead and speed comps across Canada in 2019/20

The second week of Canadian bouldering competitions saw comps take place across the country in B.C., Alberta, Ontario and Quebec. Below are the winners and links to full results.

Quebec

The second FQME comp of the year took place at Le Mouv in Montreal with categories Youth B and C competing. For Youth B, the winners were Dylan Le and Lea Latour and for Youth C it was Louka Bolvin and Ines Ferarini. Full results here.

Ontario

True North in Toronto is no stranger to hosting major comps and on Oct. 19 they were the site of a Youth D and Youth E event and on Oct. 20 a Youth C. Winners of Youth D were Nash Scharlach and Sadie Scmidt Stutzman. For Youth C, Cole MacLeod and Kaitlyn Davies. For full results from the comps, visit here.

Alberta

Climbers travelled to Lethbridge to take part in an Open, Youth A and Junior competition on Oct. 19. The comp went down at Coulee Climbing, a family-owned bouldering gym. This was their first major comp.

Dylan Bokenfohr took first for men, followed by Mark Derksen and Scott Eveleigh. For the women, Paige Boklaschuk took first, followed by Alyssa Weber and Lily Trottier. You can find full results to all categories here.

B.C.

Last week’s competition took place in the sunny Okanagan, home to Skaha and the Kelowna Boulderfiels. Gneiss hosted its annual Pop and Lock comp on Oct. 19.

For the open men, Ethan Hoffman took first place, followed by Guy McNamee and Tosh Sherkat. For the women, Sophie Buitendyk took first, followed by Sonya Colliander and Emi Takashiba.
