Canadians Will Gadd and Sarah Hueniken took gold and silver respectively in their divisions at the Bozeman Ice Breaker Competition this past weekend. The 45-year-old Gadd came out of retirement for the comp and attributed his success to climbing smart and staying in control. Second place went to American Whit Magro with fellow American Jason Nelson clinching third. In the women’s division, Stephanie Maureau of France took the gold, while Canadian Hueniken bagged second and American Kendra Stritch third. Hueniken’s strong finish should be surprising considering her recent redpoint of Neolithic M11. This ascent makes Hueniken the first North American woman to climb that grade.
