Canadian National Ice Climbing team member Gord McArthur is reporting that John Freeman and Sarah Hueniken have just repeated the Bull River mixed testpiece El Matador. Freeman’s redpoint was the third ascent while Hueniken bagged the first female send and the fourth ascent overall.

“It was so cool to be there for them, to belay and support them,” says McArthur. “Sometimes, climbing isn’t a selfish thing.  Sometimes, it’s just as cool to support your friends and see them send.”

Earlier this year, fellow Canadian National Ice Climbing team member Nathan Kutcher bagged the second ascent. McArthur first climbed El Matador in 2011 and graded it M12.

Pictures and more details coming soon.
