The Himalayan Times reported that Clayton’s body has already been returned to the U.K. He was on a guided trip with Elite Expedition, which is run by Nirmal “Nims” Purja. A senior official at the Nepal Mountaineering Association claimed said that Elite Expedition failed to report the death to authorities.
The Department of Tourism was not aware of the incident, according to The Himalayan Times. Sources said that Clayton seemed well but tired, so he took a nap at 4 p.m. on Nov. 6 and never woke up.
On Oct. 17, Mingma Wangdi Sherpa died at camp three while descending from the summit of Ama Dablam. And on Nov. 3, French climber Morschel Jean-Marc, 61, also died while descending Ama Dablam.
