Petzl Hirundos, a lightweight, flexible, indoor and crag harness

This is the third iteration of the Hirundos and Petzl has been improving it in small ways with every new release

We’re spoiled for choice for harnesses these days. There’s a different harness for each type of climber and every discipline of climbing. By contrast, the Hirundos by Petzl is a versatile offering that spans the needs of gym-to-crag and sport climbers.

The Hirundos is perfect for climbers who like the harness to feel like it isn’t there as they move, even though the laminated waist belt offers more support than some sport-climbing harnesses.

The bridge between the leg loops, with its elastic panels, is soft and flexible. Even the belay loop is supple. Another feature that will appeal to climbers who wear their harnesses in a hot gym for a whole session is that the laminated waistbelt was fairly breathable.

The  Hirundos can also be used as a lightweight alpine harness. Petzl has included both a haul-loop and slots for its Caritool tool holders. The soft rear gear loops will also sit nicely underneath your pack.

This is the third iteration of the Hirundos and Petzl has been improving it in small ways with every new release.

Highly recommended for anyone who wants a lighter harness which is still padded enough for some projecting, and is willing to sacrifice a little durability for flexibility. MSRP: $99.00
