Adam Ondra and Chaehyun Seo Win Chamonix Lead 2019

This was Ondra's first gold medal at the Chamonix stage of the World Cup

The second stage of the IFSC Lead World Cup took place in Chamonix this past weekend and it was won by 15-year-old Chaehyun Seo and Adam Ondra. The Speed World Cup also took place and was won by YiLing Song and Alfian Muhammad.

Ondra won in great style as he was the last climber out, but had all 12,000 spectators cheering for him as he passed Alex Megos’s high point for the victory. Ondra won’t be at the Briancon World Cup, but will instead make another appearance at the Tokyo World Championships in August.

“Somehow I had an inner feeling that everything would work out perfectly and I felt great from start to finish,” Ondra said after his win. Janja Garnbret, who won gold in Villars after winning all six bouldering world cups this year, didn’t make finals in Chamonix.

Lead Podium Men/Women
