Café Bloc is Montreal’s New Bouldering Gym

With a new rooftop bouldering area with beer on tap

Café Bloc is located near Quartier des Spectacles in Montreal and opened a month before the covid-19 lockdown. The gym is set to open a new rooftop bouldering area this week.

Co-owners Jean-François Gravel and Sébastien Aubé say that it will be the first rooftop bouldering terrace in the city and will have a lounge area and beers on tap. The outdoor wall will be 30 feet wide and 15 feet high and will give the climber views of downtown.

The indoor bouldering wall covers 4,000 square feet of wall space and has been open since February 2020. Climbers hoping to visit the patio are required to pay a one-day entry fee of $20.

Café Bloc is following public health mesaures and recommendations just like any other gym. There’s currently no access to the showers and saunas, visitors are encouraged to come in the clothes they plan to climb in. Water is made available for those with bottles and only contactless payments are accepted.
