Canadians Compete in Chamonix Speed World Cup

The Chamonix Lead World Cup takes place this weekend

The Chamonix Speed and Lead World Cup are taking place this weekend in one of the most historic towns in the world of climbing and a number of Canadians have made the trip to compete.

The speed qualifiers took place with most top climbers moving slower than they did last week in Villars. Sean McColl climbed in 9.32 seconds, while leading combined climber Adam Ondra got a speedy time of 8.01. QiXin Zhong is in first heading to finals with a 5.7 second time.

For the women, Canadians Alannah Yip finished in 26th with a time of 9.47 and Becca Frangos finished in 67th with a time of 13.69. Yip also took in some alpine climbing with an ascent of hte classic Arête des Cosmiques. Last week’s lead champ Janja Garnbret finished in 30th and leader heading into finals is Russian Elizaveta Ivanova. Watch finals below and results here.
