Canuck Comps Week 1: Ontario, Quebec and B.C. Start Boulder Comp Year

Comps took place at Gravity, Delire and Project Cloverdale

It was the first weekend of provincial bouldering comps in Canada, with events taking place in B.C., Ontario and Quebec. Albertans will get their season start next weekend.

The Ontario bouldering event took place at one of the province’s newest climbing gyms: Gravity Niagara. Zach Richardson finished in first with three tops for men, ahead of Manh Ellis and Ben Agro. For the women, Riley Galloway took first, followed by Madison Fischer and Indiana Chapman.

In Quebec, the first comp of the year took place at Delire St. Foy. In the open category, Marie-Michelle Thibeault-L’italien took first for women, followed by Catherine Malette and Cat Carkner. For the the men, Seb Lazure was in fine form and finished first, followed by Francis Bilodeau and David Trudeau.

In B.C., Bloc Buster drew the area’s best boulderers to take part in the first comp of the season. For the women, Sophie Buitendyk took first, followed by Sonya Colliander and Tula Sherkat in open. For the men, Kindar McNamee won overall followed by Ivan Luo and Jaxson MacDonald.
