Oriane Bertone Wins Her First Gold

After winning five silver medals, the V15 climber has taken her first World Cup victory

French climber Oriane Bertone has won her first gold medal with her victory at the Prague Boulder World Cup this weekend. She had previously won five silver medals, but no bronze or gold.

Bertone climbed three of the final four boulders at the comp, where Janja Garnbret and Flavy Cohaut finished in second and third. For a complete list of the final results for women visit here.

In 2018, when she was 12 years old, Bertone became the youngest climber to send a V14. here. In 2020, she made the first ascent of Satan I Helvete Low V15 in Fontainbleau at only 15 years old. She became the fourth woman to climb the grade following Ashima Shiraishi, Kaddi Lehmann and Mishka Ishi.

In April 2021, Bertone left the youth circuit at 16 and competed in her first open event at the Boulder World Cup in Meiringen, where she advanced to the finals and won her first silver.
