Take This Test to Climb Harder and Train Smarter

See how strong you are and what you need to do to climb harder during this time when we're all staying at home

Canadian climbers Zak McGurk, Ian Homes and Andrew Hamill have created a test that you can take at home. What kind of test? “A test designed to isolate, identify and provide you with data that will help you better understand your strengths and weakness so you can train smarter and ultimately climb harder.”

With many people staying home, the three climbers figured that it was a great time to give people something to do. The free assessment is straight forward, can be updated or repeated as often as someone likes and takes around 30 minutes. All you need is a hang-board.

When you finish, you get live data as to where you stand against climbers not only of your own grade, but also of the grade just above yours. You can see where you are, and what you need to work on. What is more, with the global standings tossed in, you can see what some of the strongest climbers on the globe are capable of. “Our hope is to share this out, and get it to spread everywhere. The more data we can collect, the more accurate of a picture we will get of just what physical attributes are shared among climbers of every grade.”

To take the test visit howtoclimb5.13.com and be sure to visit the new Instagram page below. Stay home, stay safe and we’ll all be back to climbing in no time.
