Watch Adam Ondra Talk About Speed Climbing

The top climber trains for Olympic speed climbing

Adam Ondra talks about his speed climbing training. “A discipline that I have never done before,” said Ondra, “a discipline which I always thought I would hate if I was forced to do.”

Watch Ondra’s training for speed climbing with Rishat Khaibullin, who has also qualified for the Tokyo Olympics.

So all three "single" disciplines are finished at the World Championships. Today, the last one was speed. I did my personal best at 7.86 which feels pretty good for my standards (even though fairly slow put into the perspective). Massive congrats to fellow countryman Jan Kriz @macklecross for getting the silver in speed!!! These three disciplines (bouldering, lead, speed) were qualification for the combined discipline, where top 20 climbers proceed. I am currently at the 2nd place in the combined after @tomoa_narasaki as I have the second lowest multiplication score from boulder (6th place), lead (1st place) and speed (47th out of combined athletes). Yet it does not really mean much. On Monday, it all starts at zero. These 20 athletes will compete in "combined qualifications", top 8 will proceed into the "combined finals" on Wednesday. Top 7 will have a guaranteed ticket for the Olympic Games. (Women will be fighting for their spots on Sunday and Tuesday).
