Adam Ondra Flashes 5.14d in Slovenia

He adds another hard route to his jaw-dropping flash and onsight ticklist

Taking a break from training for the upcoming Olympic qualifying event in Laval, France, Adam Ondra visited the Sopota crag in Slovenia yesterday to try some hard routes. He was joined by pro climber and local Jernej Kruder, who showed Ondra the moves of Peščena Ura 5.14d (9a). Kruder opened the line back in 2020, which features a dyno down low that requires a ton of coordination to pull off.

After falling on In Time 5.14d, Ondra gathered Kruder’s beta and tried Peščena Ura. He stuck the tricky dyno and ended up flashing the route. “Freak moment to stick the crux move at the start! Thanks Jernej!!” his said on his 8a.nu page.

Ondra is arguably the best sport route flasher/onsighter in the world. According to his 8a.nu, he has flashed two 5.14d routes and famously, one 5.15a – Supercrackinette 5.15a in Saint-Léger du Ventoux, France. He’s also onsighted three 5.14d routes.

Ondra’s had a successful month of outdoor climbing in Slovakia, Croatia, and Slovenia. After making the first ascent of Ratatouille 5.14d and Filantrop L2 5.14c in Slovakia late last month, he went on to FA B je to! 5.15b and To je to! 5.14b in Croatia. He then onsighted Inferno do Vrha 5.14b and Kingslayer 5.14b and FA’d Fantazija 5.15a in Slovenia.
