Paige Claassen is Projecting Dreamcatcher 5.14d

The steep line was climbed earlier this year by JJ Mah

American crusher Paige Claassen is making progress on her Squamish project Dreamcatcher 5.14d on the Cacodemon Boulder. Conditions have been improving on the west coast after a hot and smoky summer.

After six days of working on the famous Canadian route, Claassen said, “I’m riding that balance between feeling confident on redpoint burns, but staying realistic about this top section… Yesterday was day six, and after this attempt I found a new hand to make the bottom transition more efficient and a new foot to make the top more secure. Excited to keep trying hard on this dream line.”

The burly route was climbed this May by Vancouver’s JJ Mah. It was also climbed in 2019 by Nicholas Milburn, top American boulderer Jimmy Webb climbed it in 2018, and Mike Foley climbed it in 2017.

The first ascent was by Chris Sharma, and it was first repeated by Sean McColl in 2009. The third ascent was by Ben Harnden in 2012 and then Alex Megos climbed it in three tries. Mah started to work on the climb, which Adam Ondra tried to flash, last October and climbed it after around 15 sessions. More to come on this historic ascent.
